Swim

A month ago I was still skiing, and today I had my first swim. Welcome to Québec, where winter right goes into summer.
The water wasn’t very cold, I’m not a hardened swimmer. It was just nice to cool off after the walk. Poupoune also went in, so she was definately feeling much better.

Hah! My dad always said that there was no spring in Montréal. Within a week the snow & ice melt and BOOM! you’ve got hot humid days. Living in the New York area has heightened my appreciatin of spring & the – to me – drawn out spring blooming season, featuring exotica such as dogwood, jasmine, magnolias……

Hey there Ina!
Yeah, ‘spring’ to me is that time of year when weather is unpredictable, where it swings between warm/slushy and cold/icy. Winter is cold, summer is warm and even hot, and spring is, um, bi. Or something.
But I keep hearing these rumours about European springs, a succession of flowers unfolding after a winter that wasn’t so much cold as dreary. I fantasise that I’d like to experience one, but I suspect that would mean a full six months on the other side of the Atlantic to get the feel of the winter/spring/summer cycle. Which may happen I suppose when we retire. Something to look forward to?
