First Snow

first snow

We’re having the first snow of the year today, and of course I have to use the car. So I can put the Subaru to the test and it works pretty well.
Yes, it skids a bit, like all cars but it’s much easier to control than the Hyundai. Ah well, I’m going to finish the closet today, and after that I’ll bring all my tools home.

last doors

I’m finally putting the last doors into the closet. Tomorrow I only have to fit the drawers and then it’s finished. Well, the client still has to paint it, so I have to remove all the doors and drawers again, but at least it’s almost finished.

drive-in ATM

This looks like an ordinairy bank machine. But it isn’t. It’s a drive in bank machine. I went there for this picture, but won’t go there again. What’s the point? You have to reach for your wallet, your car ’s interior gets cold because the window has to be open for a while, and there is a huge parking lot 5 meters away from the bank, so you could as well park and walk inside.

Oh, and the keypad had inscriptions in braille. For all the blind drivers out there.

dough

Alison bakes bread, but the dough rises a bit too fast. But the resulting bread is very nice, even though we had a dispute over adding sugar to the dough.

leaves

On my first day outside (I’m feeling much better) I start making the garden ready for the winter. Gather the leaves (the trees are all barren now) and putting the barbecue and the garden furniture inside. And draining the taps so they don’t freeze over.

Let the snow arrive!

Jetlag

ill

One problem of travelling back and forth to Europe is the jetlag. I always have a terrible jetlag. Because the change in my normal dayly pattern I often get terrible depressed and this time I got a cold on top of that. Beuh!

So I spent my days sleeping and in between watching TV and surfing the web. And that when I’m supposed to finish that closet. Ah well, I can’t help it and fortunately my client is understanding. Thank you Diane!

Ear

pepe pigs ear

Every evening, around 6, we give Pepe and Poupoune some pig’s ears. Because even though we don’t eat meat ourselves we don’t impose our diet upon our dogs.

We usually cut the pig’s ears in smaller pieces and hide them in our apartment and then Poupoune and Pepe can try to find them. This to train their hunting skills. Usually Pepe finds one piece and Poupoune, who has more teeth and can chew them faster, finds the rest of them. But this morning Pepe found a piece of pig’s ear that Poupoune apparently hadn’t found yesterday. This caused a lot of stress on Poupoune’s side because she felt left out and anxiously she kept sniffing around to find more missing pieces. Which, of course, there weren’t.

Now I’m back in Canada we can continue with Pepe’s flying lessons. So far he’s not very successful in staying airborne, but he’s getting better and better in his landings.

I just donated some dollars to support the recount of votes in the US state of Ohio. Stupid, I know, but now I can at least say that I did everything in my power to get Dubya out of the White House.
